Sydney Opera House
One of the World's Great Cultural Landmarks
Few buildings in the world carry the symbolic weight of the Sydney Opera House. Jørn Utzon’s iconic design has defined Sydney’s identity since it opened in 1973 – a UNESCO World Heritage-listed masterpiece that remains as visually compelling today as it was when the first sail-shaped shell rose above Bennelong Point.
But the Opera House is more than an architectural landmark. It is one of the world’s busiest performing arts centres, presenting over 1,800 performances each year across opera, theatre, contemporary music, dance, comedy and film. Whether you’re attending a performance, joining a guided tour or simply walking the forecourt at sunset with the harbour spread out before you, the Opera House rewards every kind of visit.
From Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport, it is genuinely close. Mascot Station is a five minute walk from the hotel, and from there it is just two stops on the Airport & East Hills Line to Central Station where the CBD, Circular Quay and the Opera House are all within easy reach. What might feel like a distant Sydney icon is, in practice, one of the most accessible experiences from the hotel.
